FIRST-TIMERS: Freshmen Allison Papenfuss and Chrissy Steffen saw their first collegiate action Friday night during the latter half of a 76-41 win against Chicago State in the first round of the Preseason WNIT.

Papenfuss played five minutes, scoring two points, grabbing one rebound and forcing two steals. Steffen played six minutes, dishing out an assist and grabbing one rebound.

Coach Curt Miller said he is considering redshirting Jessie Tamerlano.

NOT QUITE THE ENCORE:
Junior transfer Maggie Hennegan opened her BG career with a double-double in an exhibition win against Findlay last week. She was unable to duplicate that performance Friday night, scoring two points and grabbing four rebounds in 24 minutes of play.

RING TIME: The 2008-09 Falcon squad received their Mid-American Conference regular season championship rings.

The winningest player in MAC history - Lindsay Goldsberry - was on hand and unveiled to the 2009 WNIT banner, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd.

STRONG CROWD: A crowd of 1,116 people took in the Falcon win Friday night. While not as big of a crowd as The BG News sports editors were expecting, the crowd was as loud as ever.

STATS: For the Falcons, Tamika Nurse led the team with 21 points, Lauren Prochaska and Tara Breske led the team with six rebounds, Prochaska led the with four assists and Breske led the team with four steals.

For the Cougars, Courtney Waldon led the team with 15 points and six rebounds, Jael Pena led the team with four assists and Alyssa Waldon led the team with three steals.
