The men's basketball team held their annual media day this morning and coach Louis Orr addressed how his team will rely on the senior leadership of his four seniors.

However while his four seniors, all of which were named captain for this season, Orr realizes his team will have to develop itself after losing their top three scorers from last season to graduation.

"It's a team that has a lot of possibilities, but right now it's a work in process," Orr said. "It doesn't have a true identity yet. We have mix of veterans and young talent."

Polk trims down

Senior center Otis Polk  - who's playing weight last season fluctuated in the 290's last season - has lost close to 20 pounds, according to Orr. He estimates Polk's playing weight this season will be around 270 to 275 pounds.

Orr has high expectations for Polk this season and hopes he is the most dominanting big man in the league. According to Orr, that all starts with his conditioning and maintaining his ability to stay on the court.
Hopson adds "fresh eyes" to Falcon bench

New assistant coach Dennis Hopson will add what Orr called, "fresh eyes" to the program. Orr believes Hopson, who has been with the program for a couple months, will help bring a better level of understanding to the team.

He's already developed a good chemistry with the coaching staff, which has been very important to Orr and his team's development.

Behind closed doors

Tomorrow, the team will head to Oakland University (Mich.) for a closed door scrimmage with the Golden Grizzlies. No fans are allowed at the scrimmage. There will be more scrimmages this preseason, but Orr wouldn't reveal who the opponent would be.
