Barnes had a record-setting day Saturday after catching 22 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns, setting new school records in receptions and receiving yards for a single game. He was just one reception short of tying the NCAA record for receptions in a game.
In the game, Barnes also rushed for 9 yards and recovered a Willie Geter fumble during a punt return late in the game that set up the game-winning score.
With his performance, Barnes continues to lead the nation in receptions (75) but now also leads the nation in receiving yards (722).
Those numbers also propelled Barnes to this week's College Football Performance Awards National Wide Receiver of the Week award.
He was aided on the day by fellow senior Tyler Sheehan, who passed the ball a school record 63 times, completing a school record 44 of them for a school record 505 yards.
Many thought Barnes and Sheehan would share this honor this week.
