Incoming Falcon Freshmen Picked in Today's NHL Draft

Jordan Samuel-Thomas - an incoming freshman for the 2009-10 hockey season - was the 22nd pick of the seventh round (203rd overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in today's NHL draft.

A 6'3", 198 pound left wing, Samuel-Thomas played the last two season with Waterloo of the United States Hockey League (USHL). At Waterloo, the winger contributed 40 goals and 25 assist in 115 games during his two season tenure. A native of Hartford, Conn., Samuel-Thomas was ranked the 190th best North American skater in the draft, and reached as high as 179th at the mid-point of the NHL season.

This will make two current Falcons who have been drafted to the NHL, projected starting goalie Nick Eno was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round of the 2007 NHL draft. Dating back to 1969, 66 Falcon players have been drafted.
